Jacklyn Dionne Agate, 36
Jacklyn Dionne Agate, 36, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away July 26, 2016, in her Coeur d’Alene home after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
She was born in Redwood City, Calif., on May 31, 1980, to James D. Agate and Maureen L. Gorman. Along with Jacklyn’s two younger sisters, the family moved from California to Spirit Lake, Idaho, in 1994. Jacklyn graduated from Lakeland High School in 1998 and then attended North Idaho College where she graduated with an associate’s degree in science.
Jacklyn had a zest for life that included many traveling escapades around the country, seeing family and friends along the way. She loved hiking, annual family reunions, Lake Coeur d’Alene, working at The Resort’s Logo Shop, visiting family in California and photographing sunsets. She completed more than 19 Bloomsdays and even persuaded many family members to take part.
Jacklyn was the center of the universe for her longtime love Daniel F. Dekan, persuading him to make drives to the mountains, explore hiking trails and live life to the fullest. If there was something that she had yet to see or was new to her, those were the things in life she wanted to experience the most. Family get-togethers were equally important, as she got the same enjoyment learning new things about the people she cared for most.
Jacklyn is survived by her fiancé and boyfriend of more than 16 years, Daniel of Coeur d’Alene; her parents, James and Maureen Agate of Spirit Lake; her older, brother James Williams; and her two younger sisters, Jessica of Spirit Lake and Samantha of Post Falls. She is also survived by grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her uncle, William “Cy” Agate; and grandparents Donald R. and Nita H. Agate.
An obituary can’t express the heartache all those close to Jacklyn feel. The surreal emotions of loss clouded by the unpredictability of how she left us, is insurmountable. But in keeping with Jacklyn’s lust for life, we will not focus on what’s gone, but instead on celebrating her and all she gave us.
The service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. Followed by a burial at Forrest Cemetery and a memorial location TBA. As Jacklyn was never a fan of Dan spending money on flowers that wouldn’t last, we ask that in lieu of bouquets you donate to a Go Fund Me account setup in her name.
