Denny Jeff Chittick, 48
Denny Jeff Chittick suddenly died on Thursday, July 28, 2016, in Chandler, Ariz. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Denny spent much of his childhood in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
He loved sports of all kinds, but had a special passion for baseball, snowmobiling and waterskiing. From a very young age, Denny loved saving money and will be remembered for his extraordinary ambition and disciplined work ethic. His personal aspirations drove him to finish high school early and relocate to Tempe, Ariz. He completed a B.S. in business finance from Arizona State University in record time.
In 1988, Denny’s keen business sense landed him in the middle of a 10-man hardware operation that matured rapidly over a decade, culminating into a Fortune 500 company called Insight Enterprises Inc. In 1997, Denny retired from his position as the company’s Chief Information Officer and embarked on his journey as a world-traveler. He visited more than 40 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, South and Central America. He climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, scuba-dove the Great Barrier Reef, bungee-jumped from the Kawarau Bridge in New Zealand, river-rafted the Upano River in Ecuador, and saw the Killing Fields in Cambodia. At only 30 years of age, he had a bucket list.
In 2001, Denny started DenSco Investment Corporation, which combined his love of finance and real estate. He was a brilliant and generous man whose objective was always to provide financial opportunities for friends and family. Denny was honest, loyal and a man of integrity. He guarded those values to his death.
For all of his academic, professional and personal accomplishments, Denny was at his best when he became a father. His fear of holding babies and his bewilderment at unbridled joy and childish ways all simply disappeared in 2005 with the birth of his first son, Dillon. His life became complete in 2006 with the arrival of his second son, Ty. With new priorities, Denny dedicated himself whole-heartedly to being a parent. He found his bliss when swimming, playing catch, overseeing homework, coaching, reading books, and brushing teeth with his boys. He also shared with them his love of travel, the outdoors, and family.
This amazing man will be cherished and loved forever by his adoring parents, Eldon (Sam) and Carlene (Mo); his sisters, Sharla (Blonde), Shawna (Iggy) and Quilene (Squit); his brothers-in-law, Brad (TIMMS) and Egan (STUD); his nieces, Ally (Ally-coo man choo) and Makayla (Kayla-poo); his nephews, Sage (Sager), Thad (Thad-man), Sean (Heuey), Cameron (Cam-man) and Carter; his “daughters,” Brianna (Pianna), Adrianna (Adwee), Lauren (Monster) and Samantha (Sammy); the mother of his children, Ranasha (Nasha), and her parents, Doris and Lee.
Above all else, Denny was a selfless and devoted father who coached his kids’ teams, served as a teachers’ aide in science, math and technology classes, and volunteered for their extra-curricular activities. He was, and will remain, a true role model to his beloved sons, Dillon (Thing 1) and Ty (Thing 2).
One of Denny’s favorite activities was accompanying the boys on field trips with Horizon School. He was loved by the boys’ classmates and teachers. He was also deeply concerned for parents who struggled to pay for these opportunities. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family requests that contributions be made to HCLC-Denny Chittick Field Trip Fund, Horizon School, 16233 S. 48th St.; Phoenix, AZ 85048.
Against his wishes, a celebration of life will be held in both Phoenix and Coeur d’Alene. Announcements are forthcoming.
