A fair to remember

| August 5, 2016 9:00 PM

In addition to the already-announced 2016 Grandstand Arena lineup featuring Sawyer Brown, and the return of the popular PRCA Xtreme Bulls, PRCA Rodeo and Demolition Derby, the North Idaho State Fair has a slate of daily attractions to be featured during the fair.

The fair runs Aug. 24-28 at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, and this year’s theme is “A World of Fun!”

More than 10 new attractions will be featured, and will include both exhibits that can be viewed throughout the grounds, as well as scheduled performances on one of the fair’s stages.

Animal lovers of all ages can experience the chance of a lifetime when kangaroos, wallabies and other native Australian wildlife bring the Australian Outback to Coeur d’Alene with the Aussie Kingdom Kangaroos exhibit. This attraction gives fairgoers the chance to see or even hold these amazing animals, and will daily stage shows, along with an exhibit of the largest variety of animal species native to Australia.

High-energy acts will also be on display to thrill and entertain, with the Zuzu African Acrobats, All American Dubois Circus and the Canadian Lumberjack Show. The Zuzu African Acrobats have been featured on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” and will have several performances daily showcasing their fast pyramid building, contortion tricks, and more. A circus big top will host The All American Dubois Circus, who will deliver the most technical and exciting elements of the circus, including straightjacket escapes and aerial performances. And the Canadian Lumberjacks will go head-to-head in ax throwing, tree climbing, log rolling, and more.

“The fair is consistently one of the best entertainment values for our community each year,” said Dane Dugan, general manager, in a press release. “I can’t think of another place where families can see kangaroos, farm animals, acrobats, circus performers, and more all in one place. All of our featured attractions on the grounds are included with their admission ticket, and we work hard to make these tickets affordable for everyone.”

Guests can save a few dollars by buying in advance online, at the fair office, or one of the presale Jifi Stop locations in the area. Other featured attractions will include Jungle Stilt Walkers, a European Children’s Theater, Kid’s Pedal Tractor Races, TerranceB Celebrity Hypnotist, Uncle Curley’s Funtastic Kids Zone, and multiple stages showcasing community performers daily.
