IRVINE, Calif. — A whole lot of teamwork allowed the North Idaho Xtreme 14-and-under team to win 6-4 in eight innings over the Texas Stingers of Pearland in the Premier Girls Fastpitch National tournament on Wednesday at Bill Barber Sports Complex.

With the international tiebreaker in play in the top of the eighth inning, with a runner at second and no outs, Morgan Flesland bunted Trinity Moore to third. Abby Jankay drove her in with a single for the go-ahead run.

Halle Kane helped wrap things up defensively in the bottom of the eighth.

“Defensively, Halle played lights-out,” Xtreme coach Travis Smith said. “She had two diving plays, two double plays. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Halle reached out, caught a line drive as she slid into second for a double play.”

Pitchers Natalie Sell and Flesland combined to allow six hits, while the Xtreme had 16 hits.

Lexi Johnson went 3 for 5 with two runs scored. Kane went 3 for 4 with two runs scored. Jankay was 3 for 4 with an RBI and run scored.

The Xtreme lost 7-2 to the Northwest Bullets of Portland in their first game of the day.

Sell, Flesland and Lacey Lemburg combined to allow six hits.

The Xtreme will play at 8 a.m. today at the Bill Barber Sports Complex.
