ASA SOFTBALL: Xtreme remain in the hunt at PGF Nationals

| August 4, 2016 9:00 PM

North Idaho Xtreme 16-and-under softball team remained alive in the consolation bracket with an 8-2 victory over the White Sox Academy from Chicago on Wednesday night. Bri Barlow led the Xtreme with 2 hits and Shelby Starr and Olivia Zufelt each had two RBI singles. Amanda Curry earned the complete game victory.

Earlier in the day, Xtreme lost to the California Explosion 6-0. Hannah Brock and Ashlynn Allen each had a hit in the losing effort.

"Explosion is one of the top programs in Southern California and we did not play our best against them," Xtreme coach Mike Chapman said. "I'm happy with the way we responded against a good team from Chicago. We were much more aggressive at the plate and it showed in the result."

Xtreme plays Iowa Premier at 8 a.m. on Thursday.
