Partly to blame is the baby boomers who have coddled and enabled a generation of spoiled, self-absorbed entitled, selfish brats who haven’t the slightest notion of the meaning of work ethic or pride. Why put forth the effort to earn your own way as long as Dad and Mom continue to work far beyond retirement age to provide the 30-something pampered child the lifestyle he’s become accustomed to? No. 2 issue is the fact that current employers, in the attempt to protect their investment, require background checks and drug testing. God forbid if 20 years ago you got a DUI or stole a candy bar as a youth. That minor lapse in good judgment might keep you unemployable for many employers.
Apparently, close-minded people don’t accept that not even they are perfect and people aren’t allowed to make mistakes along the way, nor do they learn from the mistake or change the course of life to better themselves. What kind of encouragement to stay the straight and narrow life is society providing by slamming the door at every turn in the faces of the many who have struggled and are now trying to get a leg up to begin on a new slate and be a productive member of society?
