John Christopher Fischer III, 53

| August 3, 2016 9:00 PM

John Christopher Fischer III, 53, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2016, while vacationing with his two daughters in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. He was born on Aug. 21, 1962, in San Francisco, Calif., to John C. Fischer and Verna E. (Fischer) Getts. His childhood years were spent with his sister, Lisa (Fischer) Setchell, and brother Robert Fischer in the Bay Area of California.

Chasing his passion for cooking, his early years of adulthood brought him to Lahaina, Maui, where he began his own family with his marriage to Sally (Kopf) Fischer, and the birth of his first child, Kayla Elaine Fischer. He later settled in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where he completed his family with the birth of his second child, Jahna Jo Fischer. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his daughters, and made all of his family members his first priority.

John was one of a kind, never caught without a smile on his face or a joke up his sleeve. His laughter and abundance of happiness were contagious and his devotion to others never went unnoticed. With a heart of gold, he always made sure to live each day to the fullest and helping others reach their potential and see their own self-worth. He had an undeniable passion for his family, a die-hard dedication to sports, especially golf, and a love like no other for the ocean.

He is survived by his children, Kayla and Jahna Fischer; parents John C. Fischer Jr. and Verna E. (Johnson) Getts; siblings Lisa (Fischer) Setchell and Robert Fischer; and step-parents Robert Getts and Loretta (Evans) Fischer.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at Lake City Community Church in Coeur d’Alene and a celebration of his life will follow at the Eagles Club Pavilion on 15th Street.

We are encouraging Hawaiian style attire to commemorate John’s love for the islands. And until we meet again Johnny Boy, Aloha!
