Cd'A woman gets 25 years for kidnapping
COEUR d'ALENE — A Coeur d'Alene woman was sentenced this week to up to 25 years in prison for her role in a 2015 kidnapping.
Angela Marie Frisby, 37, pleaded guilty in March to first-degree kidnapping and aggravated battery, and will be eligible for parole after 10 years, according to the Kootenai County Prosecutor's Office. The charges stem from a Nov. 25, 2015, incident, where Frisby and her cohort, Travis Anderson, forcibly abducted a woman from a Spokane store and put her in the trunk of a car.
The duo then drove, with the victim still inside the trunk, to Coeur d'Alene, where they picked up Lily Johnson and then drove to an abandoned garage in Rathdrum, a news release states.
"Frisby, Anderson and Johnson repeatedly beat the victim and questioned her about property Anderson believed the victim had taken from him," the release states. "After they were through beating and questioning the victim, they cut her clothes partially off and duct taped her hands, eyes and mouth. The victim was told she was being left to freeze to death in the unheated garage where temperatures were below freezing."
According to the release, the victim was able to escape from the garage after the trio left, and was later found wandering near the intersection of Highway 53 and Hidden Valley Road, still blinded by the duct tape.
Anderson and Johnson have also pleaded guilty to charges associated with the incident and are awaiting sentencing, the release states. Frisby has two prior felony convictions and four misdemeanor convictions.
"The conduct of Ms. Frisby was reprehensible," said Barry McHugh, Kootenai County prosecutor, in the release. "She participated in the kidnapping and beating of the victim, and then left her to die. It is only because of the tenacity of the victim in escaping the abandoned house that she survived, and Ms. Frisby avoided much more serious charges."
