Matthew Bauman

Idaho track and field

Bauman, a redshirt freshman from Post Falls High, finished fifth in the hammer throw at the Cal State Los Angeles Twilight Meet on April 14 with a throw of 164 feet, 6 inches. Last weekend, Bauman finished fourth in the hammer with a throw of 154-4 at the Spokane Memorial Meet at Spokane Falls Community College and was fifth in the discus at 141-7.

Bayley, a senior from Lakeland High in Rathdrum, was named to the All-Northwest Conference first team, announced Monday. Bayley posted Top 10 finishes in all three conference events this year. She was the individual runner-up at the Northwest Conference Fall Classic in October, and finished ninth at the Northwest Conference Spring Classic before finishing sixth at the Northwest Conference tournament last weekend.

Eastern Washington track and field

Asper, a sophomore from Lake City High in Coeur d’Alene, won the 400 meter hurdles in 1 minute, 2.11 seconds at the Spokane Memorial Open at Spokane Falls Community College on Saturday, just .11 away from qualifying for the conference championships.

Kinsey Gomez

Idaho track and field

Gomez, a senior from Coeur d’Alene High, was named Vandal Female Athlete of the Week for the week of April 20. Gomez ran the fourth fastest time in the 1,500 run in program history, finishing in 4:22.10 in the Bryan Clay Invitational Azusa Pacific, Calif. She now holds the fastest time in the Big Sky in both the 1,500- and the 10,000-meter run.
