Vito Piarulli, 93
Vito Piarulli, 93, beloved father and father-in-law, passed peacefully on April 23, 2016, at Hospice House and will be dearly missed.
Born in 1922 in Pergine Valsugana, Italy, he proudly became a U.S. Citizen in 1957. A hardworking man, Dad loved his job and co-workers at the Bunker Hill Zinc Plant and worked there until its closing. He loved reminiscing about his time at Bunker Hill. After its closing, he took another job with KeyTronic Corp., working into his 70s. He loved tinkering around his home of 50 years and making all sorts of contraptions and was a proud “do-it-yourselfer.” He was a great cook and loved watching the cooking shows, “Lidia’s Italy” and “the Barefoot Contessa.” He was very proud of his meat sauce! He also loved listening to music and watching the tennis channel and movies about World War II. A lifelong dog lover, he doted on the lucky dogs that were his companions over the years, cooking fresh chicken for them. His final companion was his beloved Pete, a Jack Russell terrier who left the biggest paw print on his heart when he passed 10 years ago.
Vito was preceded in death by his much adored wife, Liliana; mother Amalia and sister Maria. He leaves behind daughter Lori and son-in-law Dan of Issaquah, Wash.
Many thanks to the incredibly kind nurses and staff at Hospice House, Kootenai Health and Coeur d’Alene Life Care Center. Thank you to Dr. Barbara Daugherty and family for a lifetime of caring medical care for both Mom and Dad. Thank you, dear neighbors, Ramona and John for keeping an eye out for Dad, and kind mail carrier, Phil for waving at him every day.
At his request, there will be no services. Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
