NIC SOFTBALL: Bellevue tops Cards

YAKIMA — Katie Barron hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning, finishing the day with three runs batted in, but the Bellevue College Bulldogs beat the North Idaho Cardinals 9-3 in the opening game of the Northwest Athletic Conference crossover tournament on Saturday at Kiwanis Park.

Cierra Barkis drove in three runs for Bellevue (22-4), which leads the North Region.

NIC is 18-7 and will wrap up tournament play today, facing Clackamas at 1 p.m, followed by a game with Clark College at 3:30 at Kiwanis Park.

NIC was also scheduled to play Edmonds on Saturday afternoon, but details were not available.
