Eunice Phyllis Voigt Braaten, 87

| April 16, 2016 9:00 PM

June 7, 1928 - April 10, 2016

Eunice peacefully and quietly has passed to the other side. She would like you to know that her work here is complete. She received a “call” that carried a far better offer that she could not refuse. This final “assignment” has a huge “sign-on bonus,” a glorious reunion with family and friends that she has missed greatly. Her beloved husband, Kenneth and her treasured son, Allen were there to welcome her.

The new mission takes her to a wonderful new place where she will be socializing, gardening, playing cards and Wii bowling all she wants. Plus, another added “perk,” she now has the best view for all the MMA events that she really enjoyed.

Eunice was born June 7, 1928, to Pearl and Emanuel Voigt in Bowman, N.D. She grew up on her family farm to womanhood. It was there she met and married her beloved husband, Kenneth Norman Braaten. They were married for 65 wonderful years and raised four children. Sadly, their son, Allen, passed in 2010 and Ken passed in 2012.

Eunice and Ken owned and operated the Rhame Lumber Yard in North Dakota. In 1972, they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Eunice went to work at Low Cost Drugs in Hayden. She then opened her own Fabric Store in Coeur d’Alene, which she operated until she retired. She had many hobbies and stayed active through the remainder of her life. She was independent and quick witted, always willing to share a smile.

Her children, Terry (Leslie) of Anacortes, Wash., Gerald (Gail) of Bowman, N.D., Penny (Michael) Douglass of Coeur d’Alene; her brother, Harold Voigt of North Dakota; and her dear friend, Renee; along with her 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grand baby and more to come, would like you to know that they choose to CELEBRATE her life. It was a beautiful one and she lived it to the fullest. They know she has truly passed to a far better place.

A visitation/viewing is planned for 1 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, with a funeral service following at 2 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens following the funeral. Please visit Eunice’s online memorial and sign her guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
