Woman arrested for carrying gun while drunk

| April 15, 2016 9:00 PM

After an apparent night of drinking Saturday, a 21-year-old woman was arrested in Hayden early Sunday on the charge of carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence of alcohol.

Shortly after midnight, four Kootenai County sheriff's deputies responded to a report that a female with a gun was leaving the Mad Bomber Brewery.

The deputies found the suspect, Alison Russell of Hayden, outside Rusty's Bar, located in the same building complex as Mad Bomber Brewery. Russell reportedly had a bloody nose and "fat lip” when they located her, which witnesses allegedly told deputies that she tripped over a curb and fell face-first into a vehicle, causing the injuries.

Deputy Travis Fanciullo noted in the report that deputies could detect an "extreme odor" of an alcoholic beverage coming from Russell, as well as slurred and incoherent speech and glossy/bloodshot eyes. Two breath samples provided by Russell indicated her breath alcohol concentration was between .211 and .208.

Fanciullo reported the handgun was located in Russell's purse, noting it was loaded with a round in the chamber.

The report states witnesses told deputies she did not point the gun or threaten anyone, but they were concerned for her safety due to her alleged level of intoxication.
