PREP ROUNDUP: Post Falls boys capture 22-team golf tourney

PULLMAN — Cameron Flores paced four Post Falls Trojans in the 70s with a 72 as they claimed the team title in the 22-team Pullman Invitational on Thursday at Palouse Ridge Golf Club.

Joseph Glenn shot a 73, Tanner Byers a 76 and Chase Bomar a 79 for Post Falls, which outshot Central Valley 300-310 for the team title.

Coeur d’Alene (317) finished fourth and Lake City (344) sixth.

Jake Dringle of Central Valley earned medalist honors with a 71.

Finlay shot a 7-over par 79, and Miller carded a nine-hole score of 48.

COEUR d’ALENE — Bailey Cavanagh homered and doubled and drove in three runs as part of a 3-for-4 game with three runs scored as the Timberwolves beat the Bulldogs.

Chloe Falciani went 3 for 4 and drove in a pair of runs for Lake City (7-2). Haley Loffer went 2 for 5 with three RBIs and two runs scored, and Heather Hawkes also homered for the Timberwolves.

Sandpoint (7-4) struck first, with three runs in the top of the third inning. Bri Baldree doubled and went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Bulldogs, and Bri Barlow went 2 for 4 and scored twice.

“Today we had to battle through some elements,” Lake City coach Jesse Lenz said. “Sandpoint struck first, and they are a much-improved ballclub. I was pleased with how my team responded to the adversity of being behind. We finally got the bats going in the third inning, and I was happy to see the top of the lineup perform.”

Lake City opens 5A Inland Empire League play Saturday at home with a doubleheader vs. Lewiston.
