Public invited to comment on state education rules
BOISE — The state Department of Education has opened for public involvement and comment on the negotiated rulemaking process for several of its administrative rules as governed by the Idaho Administrative Procedures Act.
A series of changes or additions to state education IDAPA rules are being proposed and the public is being strongly encouraged by the department to participate in the process, which will lead to formal recommendations to be placed before the State Board of Education and ultimately could affect students as well as various operations of school districts around the state.
The proposals include rule modifications or additions for:
Idaho Content Standards
• Health
• Arts and Humanities
• English Language Arts/Literacy
• Mathematics
• Physical Education
• Science
• Social Studies
---
Computer Science
Bullying
Special Education
Alternative Secondary Programs

---
Details on how to participate in the process can be found on the department’s website at http://sde.idaho.gov/topics/admin-rules/index.html. Comments can be provided through the website. In addition, some of the proposals will involve public meetings around the state later this month. The website provides detailed information about this point of the process for each subject area. Following this public involvement and comment window, which begins now, the dockets will be presented to the State Board of Education which will then deny, accept or modify them.
