Idaho Freedom Action announces endorsements

Idaho Freedom Action announced its endorsement of Kootenai County legislators in their re-election efforts. In order to be endorsed by Idaho Freedom Action, an incumbent legislator has to receive a C or better on Idaho Freedom Foundation’s Idaho Freedom Index, as well as be committed to conservative principles of limited government, low taxes and free enterprise.

IFA endorses Reps. Kathy Sims, Vito Barbieri, Don Cheatham and Sen. Mary Souza, said IFA President Wayne Hoffman. IFA is also endorsing House candidate Art Macomber.

Hoffman said, “Kathy Sims is one of Idaho’s best legislators. She works hard to promote and defend conservative principles, and that’s reflected in her excellent voting record. She has also been one of the lead hands in efforts to reform the state’s urban renewal laws. I can’t thank her enough for all of her efforts on behalf of the taxpayers of Idaho.” Sims scored an A- on the 2016 Idaho Freedom Index.

Regarding Barbieri, Hoffman said, “Vito is a defender of conservative principles. He works hard for the people of his district and is solid in the pursuit of free market solutions.” Barbieri scored a B- on the Freedom Index.

Of Cheatham, Hoffman said, “In just two years, Don has become a force for freedom in the Idaho Legislature. He is a real champion for conservative principles and a friend of the taxpayer.” Cheatham earned a C+ on the Freedom Index.

Hoffman continued, “I was looking forward to Mary Souza’s election to the state Senate, and she has not disappointed. Mary is dedicated to conservative principles and works hard on behalf of Idaho taxpayers. Her work on urban renewal and education issues, in particular, makes her a standout legislator. She is, without question, a friend of freedom.” Souza scored a C on the Freedom Index.

IFA is endorsing Macomber in his bid for the House of Representatives in District 4. “Art Macomber has committed to supporting conservative principles in the Idaho Legislature.”
