WSU basketball program
PULLMAN — Redshirt junior Valentine Izundu has been granted his release from the Washington State men’s basketball program and will transfer, head coach Ernie Kent announced.
“We support the decision made by Valentine and wish him nothing but good things,” Kent said. “We’ve enjoyed coaching Valentine over the last two years and appreciate the contributions he’s made to the program.”
A native of Houston, Izundu sat out the 2014-15 season with a redshirt after transferring to WSU from Houston. During his redshirt junior year in 2015-16, Izundu played 23 of 31 games for the Cougars, averaging 5.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.2 blocked shots per game. His 50 total blocks rank seventh in WSU’s single-season record books, while his 50 career blocks are tied for 20th most in a Cougar career.
