GUNS: Carry these questions

| April 3, 2016 9:00 PM

As a former law enforcement officer, I have to agree with the sheriff and police chief. This new gun law is stupid and dangerous.

One of my concerns is where the responsibility lies after someone with no training “accidentally” shoots someone? If a toddler takes a gun from its mother’s purse and shoots someone shopping in Walmart or any public place, who is responsible for the medical bills or liable if that person dies? What if someone drops a gun in a movie theater and shoots or kills someone? Or a professor’s gun goes off in his pocket while he is teaching and shoots someone in the class? Is Walmart, the theater or the school responsible? How about the state? The governor should have sent that bill back if he was concerned about the training language.

I see the state just lost another lawsuit because of the Medicaid issue. What is that now, $3 million and counting for attorney fees on lost lawsuits? If someone gets killed or injured because of this gun bill, I’m sure some ACLU lawyer will be willing to sue the state.

This state is in trouble thanks to the Republicans. Let’s not forget about those hypocrite legislators who voted against Medicaid and then take hundreds of thousands of federal money for their farms and ranches. If the Liningers want to vote someone out of office, maybe it should be these legislators who come up with these stupid bills. The Liningers also might want to take a civics class. You don’t vote the police chief out of office. Police chiefs are appointed, not elected.
