Gold and treasure show today, Sunday at fairgrounds
This weekend at the Kootenai County fairgrounds, learn all about small-scale mining, gold prospecting and recreational gold panning.
Hosted by the Northwest Gold Prospectors Association, this family-friendly event is in its 17th year and runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in Jacklin Building No. 25 at the fairgrounds, 4056 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene.
The show offers opportunities to learn how to prospect for gold or look for treasure. Attendees can see the latest in small scale mining equipment and metal detectors, try their luck at a panning booth and get ideas on how to turn treasures into keepsakes and collectibles. Visitors can view the club’s gold display, talk to members about their equipment and experiences, and vote in a homemade/modified equipment contest. Food and beverages will be available.
