Helen Marion Wilson, 91

| September 30, 2015 10:00 PM

Helen went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 25, 2015. She enjoyed her last years at The Lodge assisted living. The staff and other residences were loving and caring. Born to William and Selma Junes (Kyllonen) in Runeberg, Minn., Nov. 14, 1923.

Helen grew up in Minnesota helping her parents at logging camps that her mother cooked at and her father was employed by. Later they moved to Spokane, Wash. She enlisted in the Marine Corps in San Francisco, Calif., from April 1951 to April 1954. During her three years of service, she trained at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina from June to August of 1951. She rose to rank of Sergeant after the first year of service as an Electronics Supply Clerk.

Following her service she returned to Spokane where she met Frederick C. Wilson. They married May 1, 1955. They had one son (Mike Wilson — deceased) before heading to Anchorage, Alaska, where they homesteaded until 1962. During their stay in Alaska three more children were born (William, David and Valda). They briefly moved to Portland, Ore., for Frederick to attend a college there. After completing his course, the family returned to Spokane to have one more child join the family (Selma Wilson — deceased). The family moved to Clayton, Wash.

Fred and Helen enjoyed many happy years up on the mountain outside Clayton raising their children, traveling across the United States to visit their son in Massachusetts, visiting friends and relatives, hot springing, and enjoying retirement years until Frederick’s heart condition concerns moved them closer to their daughter in Idaho.

Helen enjoyed playing board games, huckleberry picking, visiting different hot springs, reading her Bible, attending church and visits from her children.

Helen is survived by son William (Bill) and Kelli Wilson of Lake Bay, Wash., David Wilson and partner Ira of St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughter Valda and Brad Pfundheller of Post Falls, Idaho; brother Clifford and Eleanor Junes of Maple Groves, Minn.; two granddaughters and one grandson.

Memorial service to be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at Living Word Fellowship, 1600 E. Seltice Way, Suite C, Post Falls. The family will travel to Deer Park, Wash., for interment at Woodland Cemetery following the memorial service.
