PREP VOLLEYBALL: Lake City sweeps Lewiston
LEWISTON — Lake City maintained its lead in the 5A Inland Empire League volleyball race by sweeping the Lewiston Bengals 25-14, 25-21, 25-8 on Tuesday night at Booth Hall.
Lake City (18-3, 4-0 5A IEL) leads Coeur d’Alene (13-2, 3-1), Post Falls (10-8, 1-3) and Lewiston (9-7, 0-4).
“A solid team win for the Timberwolves on the road, short-handed due to illness,” Lake City coach Brian Hosfeld said. “The team served and passed great and hit almost .300 on the night with only seven errors in three sets.”
Ashley Kauffman and Arlaina Stephenson led Lake City in kills, and freshman setter Klaire Mitchell had 22 assists. Senior CC Cates had 18 digs on the night.
“We had people step up when we needed them to,” Hosfeld said. “I’m really proud of how the team responded to some adversity when a few players couldn’t make the trip due to illness. It was one of our best ball control matches on the season!”
