Identity of body found in Boundary County still unknown
BONNERS FERRY — Details are scarce surrounding the discovery of a body in a remote area of Boundary County earlier this week.
The body was recovered from the Roman Nose Lake area west of Naples and south of Bonners Ferry sometime this week, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
The age, gender or condition of the body were not being released by the sheriff’s office to protect the integrity of the investigation.
“At this time, we are unable to release the deceased subject’s identity,” Rich Stephens, chief deputy of the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, said in a press release. “The subject has been deceased for a considerable time, making identification and cause of death more difficult.”
Details on when the body was found, or by whom, were not provided by the sheriff’s office.
There also was no information released on a suspected cause of death or how long the individual may been dead before the body was discovered.
The case is under investigation and additional information will be released as it become available.
Boundary County Sheriff’s Office officials said there is no immediate threat to the community pertaining to the investigation and asked the public not to call BCSO Dispatch Center with questions regarding the case or about any potential social-media-driven rumors.
