Driver released from hospital, charged with vehicular manslaughter in fatal crash

The driver who survived the Sept. 12 head-on collision on U.S. 95 that left three others dead was released from the hospital and taken into custody Friday, Idaho State Police reported.

Ryan J. Turner, 27, of Hayden, was driving north in the southbound lane in a 2011 Chevy Silverado truck when his truck collided with a southbound 1997 Dodge Caravan just before 4 that morning. The minivan was occupied by a father and his two daughters - Mathew-Michael T. Baroni, 33; Madilyn Baroni, 8; and Molly Baroni, 6, all of Spokane. They all died at the scene, which was south of Athol and north of Silverwood Theme Park.

Turner was charged with three counts of vehicular manslaughter. ISP reported that alcohol test results are still pending.
