COMMUNITY: Selfless acts of giving

How does a family thank a community that has come together to support us during a catastrophe? There are no words in the English dictionary that adequately describe what is in our hearts. We have been wrapped in love, kindness, prayers and endless amounts of selfless acts of giving. We have always known what an amazing community we live in but we now have experienced it firsthand due to our son Grant Turner's swimming accident.

We would, if we could, like to thank each and every individual person but it is impossible. This is the only platform we have available to us. Thank you are the only words we have to use. Still it does not feel adequate. We are blessed beyond words.

What we do want to do is thank some key businesses and people that have stepped up to run some fundraisers that made a huge impact not only on Grant and Ashley's situation but on our hearts. We are truly amazed and humbled by the giving of these individuals. Our community is truly fortunate to have them in our midst as they do not hesitate to step up when there is a need. Next time you need a service think of them or in the case of The Coeur d'Alene Eagles, support them as they support others.

We would like to thank Glenn Gatherer of Nate's New York Pizza - he ran a fundraiser within two weeks of Grant's injury. Truly amazing! The Coeur d'Alene Public Golf Course and Pro Brent Walsh along with the Mens Club for running a Golf Tournament that was first rate. Marshall and Gail Thompson of Commercial Printing for donating the printing of posters and tickets for the comedy show fundraiser this past weekend. This event was hosted by the Coeur d'Alene Eagles under the organization of Lori Kaye Gabourey and Cindy Porter Lonyo - both Coeur d'Alene High School graduates. What a great event that was. All the laughter was provided from the donation of time from great comediennes Jay Wendell Walker, Susan Jones and Ken McCombs. These comedians aren't even from this area but heard of Grant's need and stepped up to help. The human spirit is alive and well!

What a wonderful caring community. We can't imagine living anywhere else. Each day we will move forward with grace and humility knowing we have been treated with so much kindness and love. You can be assured it has not been taken lightly nor without impact. We have felt it and it has made a difference in our lives as well as our children. We thank you!

RESTAURANT: A special 50th anniversary

Thank you to the Coeur d'Alene Olive Garden restaurant for their exemplary service. The management and staff went out of their way to make our 50th wedding anniversary dinner party very special. We had a rather large group of family that included four young children. The manager made a personal effort to make sure that everything went well and the wait staff were exceptional. Oh yes, the food and special dessert was also outstanding.
