PREP SOCCER: Lake City blanks Sandpoint

SANDPOINT - Travis Swallow kickstarted a shutout with a goal on a penalty kick, helping the Lake City Timberwolves beat the Sandpoint Bulldogs 3-0 on Thursday.
Jack Barrett was fouled inside the penalty box to set up the score, which made it 1-0 Lake City (7-0).
"I thought we played excellent," Lake City coach Chad Beadell said. "I thought we played well in all facets - attacking, finishing, goalkeeping, defending, finishing. We had a few chances we could've put away. I was very proud of how we played today and it was an awesome atmosphere. I wish we had this atmosphere for a night game."
Lake City plays Wednesday at Moscow.

RATHDRUM - Juho Reiman scored a game-tying and insurance goals for Lakeland.
So it was only fitting the senior forward set up the go-ahead goal in the second half at Sunrise Rotary Soccer Field.
Reiman took a ball, sprinted and outworked two different Trojan players, tapping a pass to fellow forward Seth Galbraith for a goal and a 3-2 lead, in a nonleague win at home. The Hawks extended their unbeaten streak to five.
Reiman took a ball and he played down the line, receiving the ball down wide, and he beat a defender down the line toward the goal. He then crossed the ball across the 6-yard box and Galbraith ran in on it and the goalkeeper was out of position and he kicked the ball into the goal.
"It was a perfect play there," Lakeland coach Andrew Craig said. "Juho definitely was very effective up top. He was pressuring the ball on defense and he had a well-rounded game for us."
Diego Esquivel scored two goals for Post Falls (2-5), which is at Northwest Christian on Saturday.
Lakeland (5-2-2) plays at Stillwater Christian on Saturday in Kalispell, Mont.
Lakeland beat Northwest Christian on Tuesday, 6-1.

ST. MARIES - Thomas Hauck had a hat trick for the Tigers (4-2, 3-0 Intermountain League) in a shutout of the Lumberjacks (1-5-1, 1-2-1).
"We have nine freshman I thought they did a good job," Chris Renaldo said. "Timberlake's got a good team. They're pretty balanced. We had a better second half."
St. Maries plays at Timberlake on Saturday.

POST FALLS - Addi Ceriello's goal in the 77th minute broke a tie and gave the Trojans (1-7) their first victory of the season, in the nonleague game against the Hawks (2-3-1).
Rickie Colosimo brought the ball down the right side and sent a crossing pass. Ceriello, playing left outside midfielder, settled the ball just inside the penalty area, and sent a shot inside the right post for the game-winner.
"We came out a little flat," Post Falls coach Sarah Stevens said. "Lakeland did a great job coming back and I think as the game continued, we were able to play better soccer in the second half."
Colosimo had two assists for Post Falls. The teams meet again Saturday at noon at Lakeland.

Coeur d'Alene Charter (6-2) had goals from Ceceila McAfee and Amanda Lehosit in the first half in the win.

ST. MARIES - The Tigers struck early and often, staking a 4-0 lead at half to beat the Lumberjacks in Intermountain League play.
Freshman forward Georgina Simpson scored two goals for the Tigers (8-0, 5-0 IML), who outshot the Lumberjacks (1-6, 1-5), 12-0.
"We were able to get our youngsters in the game pretty quickly," Timberlake coach Steve Michael said. "We wanted to continue to play well as a team and develop young players and we were able to do that."
Emma Dundes had six saves for St. Maries.
"The second half was better," Lumberjacks coach Brad Groce said. "Our girls played an aggressive, physical game. We passed the ball better and didn't have any breakdowns."
Timberlake hosts Colville in nonleague action today.
St. Maries plays Saturday at Timberlake.
