Get stoked
COEUR d'ALENE - Take heed, adrenaline junkies.
The most high-octane films of the Banff Mountain Film Festival will be coming to North Idaho the first weekend of October during the 2015 Banff Radical Reels Tour.
Follow along with stunt performers, ice climbers, kayakers, mountain bikers, speed flyers, climbers and more as they tell the tales of their dangerous, exciting, emotional and breathtaking journeys in eight action-packed films.
Audiences will experience the raucous new era of climbing in Peter Mortimer's "Valley Uprising: The Stonemasters," which won the grand prize at the Banff Film Festival. Viewers will witness the revival of the mountain biking-snowboarding hybrid sport SMX in Fabian Kluhs' "Undead." Go on an emotional voyage with downhill mountain bike specialist and professional stuntman Rob Jarman in Alastair Lee's "All My Own Stunts."
Feel the intensity of climbing icy precipices and see them from a first-person perspective in Keith Ladzinski's "Desert Ice."
Held annually in the fall, the Banff Mountain Film Festival has included the Radical Reels night in previous years, featuring a special screening of the wildest, most adrenaline-induced films submitted to the festival. So many action films have been submitted that could not be fit into the regular World Tour that the hugely successful Radical Reels evening presentation and road tour was born.
That first-year sendoff was a kudos to North Idaho audiences, as the Banff Centre ran a pilot program of which Sandpoint was one of only six sites worldwide to run the Radical Reels initial program. Sandpoint will be hosting the tour for its third year Oct 3.
Radical Reels Tour films will be presented in the Kroc Center at 7 p.m. Oct. 2 with doors opening at 6 p.m. Tickets are $14 in advance at Zip's Drive-In in downtown Coeur d'Alene, Vertical Earth, the Camera Corral and at the Two Wheeler Dealer in Hayden or $15 at the door.
