CALDWELL (AP) - The case against a former Nampa high school teacher accused of having sex with a student has been moved to district court.

The Idaho Press-Tribune reports 28-year-old Tomas Michael Fisher appeared in court Wednesday and waived his preliminary hearing. He is scheduled to appear in district court Sept. 25.

Fisher taught Spanish at Skyview High School and resigned in July. He was arrested Sept. 1 for sexual battery.

Court documents say the student told authorities that she had consensual sexual contact with Fisher multiple times.

Fisher's attorney asked the judge Wednesday to reduce his client's $100,000 bond, but the request was denied.

Fisher remains in custody at Canyon County Jail.
