PREP VOLLEYBALL: Morris leads Post Falls to victory at Moscow
MOSCOW - Mackenzie Morris had 14 kills and eight digs as the Post Falls Trojans defeated the Moscow Bears 26-24, 25-19, 25-23 in a nonleague volleyball match Tuesday night at Bear Den.
Kayla Mayo had eight assists and two blocks, and Sam Hammond had two aces for Post Falls (7-5), which travels to Lewiston on Thursday.
St. Maries d. Cd'A Charter
ST. MARIES - Kari Ghramm had 10 kills and eight digs to lead the Lumberjacks past the Panthers 25-15, 25-14, 27-25 in the Central Idaho League opener for both schools.
"It was a good match," St. Maries coach Amy Scheer said. "Our girls came out fired up and ready to play. We did some subbing and moving some players around in the third game and started to make some routine errors and didn't make some plays. The girls had to dig deep to finish it out."
Kelsey Auer had 30 assists, Devyn Wilson nine kills and Aubree Hall six digs and one ace for St. Maries (7-1), which travels to Priest River on Tuesday.
Stephanie Kociela had six kills and five digs, Soersha Lewis six blocks and Nicole Young four kills and three blocks for Coeur d'Alene Charter (1-3), which competes in the Rosalia Spikefest on Saturday.
Lakeside d. Kootenai
PLUMMER - Lillian Rhea had six kills, eight digs and two blocks to lead the Knights past the Warriors 25-20, 25-14, 25-23 in a North Star League match at Ron Miller Court.
"Overall, I thought the girls came on strong and worked well together," Lakeside co-coach Karyn Stockdale said. "We had our full lineup back and they just played well together."
Cailyn Dohrman had four kills and three blocks, Talia Hendrickx 10 digs, 14 assists, three kills and one ace and Rachel Arthur served eight straight points with four aces in the third game for Lakeside (3-2, 2-2 NSL), which travels to Wallace on Thursday.
Paxton Dotson had 12 assists and six digs for Kootenai (4-3, 2-1) plays host to Clark Fork on Thursday. Kaili Gentry had seven kills and two blocks, Brook Larson eight digs, Grace McInturff two blocks.
"Although we physically walked into Lakeside's gym, we just didn't show up mentally," Kootenai coach Mary Gentry said. "We had a rough night serving and just weren't able to create any synergy on the court. We had some good moments but we weren't able to carry the momentum over into the next plays."
N.I. Christian d. Pullman Christian
PULLMAN - Katelyn Stegman had 14 assists and nine aces to lead the Royals past the Eagles 25-16, 25-12, 25-10 in a Mountain Christian League match.
Rayla Andrews had 10 kills for North Idaho Christian (1-2, 1-0 MCL), which faces Christian Heritage on Thursday at Holy Family Catholic School.
