Gregg Eugene Larson, 56
Gregg Eugene Larson, 56, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, tragically passed away on Sept. 11, 2015, from injuries suffered in an accident at his home.
Born May 27, 1959, in Kansas City, Mo., Gregg was the son of Patricia Ann Derry and Herbert J. Larson of Washington, Ill., and husband of Mary Luann Mall, also of Washington.
He graduated in 1977 from Washington Community High School (where he was known to throw some great parties) and University of Illinois in 1981 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. He and Mary were married on June 26, 1982, witnessed by their favorite siblings and obituary authors, Gary Larson and Angela Mall. Their union was blessed with two sons, Stephen and Jonathan, both of Coeur d'Alene.
Gregg started his engineering career with Dresser Industries in Houston, Texas, and Lafayette, La. He then moved to Moseley Machinery in Waco, Texas, and United Defense in San Jose, Calif. Most recently, he worked as an independent wealth management expert and was a member of the board of directors for Advanced AMC, Inc. His career success allowed him to enjoy an early retirement and devote time to his hobbies, including fishing, woodworking, electronics and music.
He is survived by his wife; sons brother Gary (Denise); sisters-in-law Lora (Randy), Alissa (Ron), Angela (Tommy) and Maureen; and nine nieces and nephews (Lisa, Joel, Adam, Andrew, Ellen, Amanda, Tony, Tim and Charlie).
Celebrations of Gregg's life are planned from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at O'Reilly's on the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, and Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, in Washington, Ill.
Memorials may be sent to the scholarship fund of The Fair Foundation of the North Idaho Fair & Rodeo or in Washington, Ill., the Town and Country Gardeners and the Washington Historical Society.
