John Hendry Sr., 76
John was born February 18, 1939, in San Francisco, California, to Ernest and Rose Hendry. When he was 2 months old, his mother brought him and his sister to Coeur d'Alene to live.
John's favorite time was when he was camping. He would take his chair down to the river fishing, sitting for hours relaxing and catching his fish. He loved to ride his four-wheeler with his son (Johnny) many friends and of course with his dog (Pistol) by his side wearing his goggles to protect his eyes. He hunted at Avery for years with the family and was so excited when he shot his first elk.
He passed away on September 6, 2015, from pancreatic cancer at the North Idaho Hospice House.
He married Barbara Baese and they had two children and they later divorced.
On September 3, 1963, he married Sandra Sweitzer and they had two children.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Hendry; mother Rose Halvorson; stepfather Melvin Halvorson; grandsons James Brewer and Shane Novak; great-grandson Sage Gustafson; mother- and father-in-law Phyllis and James Sweitzer; brother-in-law Buzz Lyon and niece Connie Beneke.
