Turkeys For All sets new board
COEUR d'ALENE - The food-bank-supporting nonprofit organization Turkeys For All has a new board of directors, the organization's founder announced this week.
"I am thrilled to have such experienced and enthusiastic members serve on our board," said Jim Myers, who is also a board member and the president of the organization. "There is no question that their expertise will greatly add to our ability to serve the hungry in Kootenai County."
Myers was the only board member left early last month when four others abruptly quit.
In 2014, TFA donated more than $18,000 worth of food to Community Action Partnership food bank in Coeur d'Alene. It has a similar goal for this year.
The organization's annual fundraiser is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Oct. 23, at the Best Western Plus Coeur d'Alene Inn. Auction items are needed for the event, along with a corporate sponsor.
Turkeys For All supports the food bank all year long, but particularly at Thanksgiving. There is usually a shortage of turkeys during the holiday at the food bank.
The new board members include former Kootenai County Undersheriff Tad Leach, of Coeur d'Alene. He also was the coordinator of the law enforcement program at North Idaho College.
Certified public accountant Suzanne Metzger, of Coeur d'Alene, also joined the board. She has been on the board of multiple local organizations.
Evalyn Adams, the first female Kootenai County commissioner, signed on as well.
Nate Jolley, of Coeur d'Alene, also joined the board. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. After service in the Marines, he served in senior management positions in private commerce.
Jolley has volunteered in several Coeur d'Alene organizations.
