PREP VOLLEYBALL: Lake City tops Sandpoint

SANDPOINT — Ariana Stephenson had 16 kills and four aces to lead the Lake City Timberwolves past the Sandpoint Bulldogs 25-17, 22-25, 25-20, 22-25, 15-2 in a nonleague match at Les Rogers Court.

“Sometimes you’ve got to win ugly,” Lake City coach Brian Hosfeld said. “It was nice to see us settle down at times. When it’s not going the way you’re used to, you can separate, and we came together.”

Klaire Mitchell had 13 digs and Nina Carlson had four blocks for Lake City (8-0), which hosts Post Falls on Thursday.

Laney Search had 29 assists, 11 kills, 16 digs and five aces for Sandpoint (4-5), which travels to Coeur d’Alene on Thursday.

Lakeland

RATHDRUM — Mattisyn Cope had eight blocks and five kills for the Hawks in a five-game loss to the Crusaders at Hawk Court.

Individual game scores were not provided.

“It was a really good game for us after having last week off,” Lakeland coach Kylee Garitone said. “The girls fought hard and played hard. We just had quite a few serving and hitting errors and it made it difficult to push forward.”

Lilly Sellers had 12 digs for Lakeland (1-2), which hosts Moscow on Thursday.

Riverside

SPIRIT LAKE — Kenzie Dean and Jacqueline Mallett had seven kills each, and Matraca Rocheleau had 22 assists, as the Tigers beat the visiting Rams 25-9, 25-8, 25-14.

Courtney Eaton had five aces and 10 digs for Timberlake (3-4), which travels to Bonners Ferry on Thursday.

Daisy Drees had eight digs for Riverside.

Cd’A Charter

COEUR d’ALENE — Stephanie Kociela had 10 kills and six digs for the Panthers in a 16-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-17 nonleague loss to the Miners at Holy Family Catholic School.

Madison Aittama had six kills and seven digs and Katie McGee had 15 digs for Coeur d’Alene Charter, which travels to Kootenai on Thursday.

“We made some significant improvement from last week,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Ian Kelsey said. “We struggled serving tonight, but had a new libero (McGee) that did exactly what we needed her to do. She played great.”

It was the first coaching victory for Anali (Carrico) Spooner, the former Mullan standout.

Wallace (1-2) travels to Lakeside on Thursday.

Genesis Prep

HARRISON FLATS — Kaili Gentry had six kills, six digs and two blocks to lead the Warriors past the Jaguars 25-7, 25-14, 25-9 in a North Star League match.

“The team served really well,” Kootenai coach Mary Gentry said. “We set a goal to average 90 percent or above from the serving line, and tonight, we were able to accomplish that. We were also able to implement some new plays during the game that we had not yet put into live action. The girls are coming together nicely and I’m very pleased with their positive attitudes.”

Paxton Dotson had nine assists, Grace McInturff two aces for Kootenai (3-2, 2-0 NSL), which hosts Coeur d’Alene Charter on Thursday.

Genesis Prep (0-1, 0-1) travels to Wallace on Saturday.

Mullan

MULLAN — Lillian Rhea had nine aces, five kills and five digs to lead the Knights to a 25-11, 25-10, 25-6 North Star League win against the Tigers in a North Star League match at the Mullan Pavilion.

“We had good teamwork tonight,” Lakeside co-coach Karyn Stockdale said. “The girls worked well together tonight and moved the ball around really well.”

Talia Hendrickx had three aces, five digs and 12 assists, Rachael Arthur five digs, Cailyn Dohrman five kills and four assists and Jordyn Nomee four kills and four digs for Lakeside.

On Thursday, Lakeside (2-2, 2-0 NSL) hosts Wallace and Mullan (0-2, 0-2) hosts Clark Fork.
