In loving memory of Maria Minna Groneck, 91

Dec. 31, 1923 - Aug. 21, 2015

Maria M.Groneck, 91, from Conkling Park, Idaho, born on Dec. 31, 1923, in Hamburg, Germany, to Gustav and Frieda Trampenau, passed away peacefully to our Lord and surrounded by her family and loved ones on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

She was an athletic and active child. After graduating from high school in her native Germany, she pursued a career as a hairdresser and beautician. She married the love of her life, Karl Dietrich Groneck, on July 12,1952, with whom she immigrated to America in 1964. They started their residence in Napa Valley, Calif., before moving to Spokane, Wash., and eventually settling in North Idaho in 1987.

Maria was proud to serve her community as president of the Worley Town and Country Club from 1992 to 1994 and serving as officer for the HPOA. She was an active member and supporter of the Plummer Senior Center. Maria loved her family, friends and everyone she met.

She enjoyed working out and socializing at the Coeur d'Alene Tribal Wellness Center in Plummer where she was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation as a valued member, but also enjoyed many fun nights at the Coeur d'Alene Casino with her friends. She had a passion for reading which she shared with others in the community, in particular Friends of the Library.

Maria is survived by her husband of 63 years, Karl; daughter Manuela and son-in-law Grant; her son, Holger and partner Wolfgang; her nephew, Dirk and wife Martina; grandnieces Kimmy and Simone and her many friends, including her extended Willard family, Anna Marie (her SOUL MATE) and Gary.

Her celebration of life will be held by Father Robert Erickson S.J. at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at The Sacred Heart Mission in De Smet, Idaho, followed by a reception at the BMC Wellness Center, 1100 A St., Plummer, Idaho.
