The Oct. 30 deadline is nearing for entries in this year's Kootenai County Historic Preservation Commission's 2015 student essay contest. The theme of this year's competition is "Preserving Kootenai County Historic Properties."

Students who live in Kootenai County and attend home, public or private school in the county are urged to enter.
