PREP VOLLEYBALL: Huddleston leads balanced Viks past Moscow in straight sets

COEUR d'ALENE - Missy Huddleston had seven kills and Delaney Schmidt had six kills to lead a balanced Coeur d'Alene Viking attack in a 25-10, 25-13, 25-8 win over the Moscow Bears in a nonleague match on Thursday.

Ali Williams had 19 assists and four aces, Isabella Hollibaugh seven digs, Huddleston five digs for Coeur d'Alene (3-1), which hosts Sandpoint on Thursday.

COEUR d'ALENE - Ashley Kauffman had 11 kills and 14 digs as the Timberwolves beat the Bengals 28-26, 25-11, 25-18 in the 5A Inland Empire League opener for both schools.

Nina Carlson had nine kills and five blocks and Macy DuCoeur seven kills and five blocks for Lake City (7-0), which travels to Sandpoint on Tuesday.

POST FALLS - Alli Munday had 12 kills and Kayla Mayo had 12 assists and five aces to lead the Trojans past the Bulldogs 25-17, 25-22, 21-25, 24-26, 16-14 in a tri-match at The Arena.

Sam Hammond had 10 assists, Sydney Parks six blocks and Kali Minden 20 digs for Post Falls against Sandpoint.

Post Falls lost its second match of the night, falling 25-19, 25-17, 25-16 to Glacier of Kalispell, Mont.

Munday had six kills, Mayo seven assists and three aces, Hammond six assists, Abie Van Hyning four blocks and Macky Morris six digs for Post Falls (3-2), which travels to Lake City on Thursday.

HARRISON FLATS - Grace McInturff had 15 kills, four blocks and two aces to lead the Warriors to a 25-19, 25-27, 25-18, 20-25, 15-9 North Star League win against the Miners.

"Our girls had to work hard to find those open holes and did quite well with 45 kills and digging up 89 balls to combat Wallace's strong defense," Kootenai coach Mary Gentry said. "Our seniors really stepped up tonight with great leadership and enthusiasm. I believe that was the key in building us up to seal the win."

Jenna Karpinski had 23 digs and Paxton Dotson 20 assists for Kootenai (2-2), which hosts Genesis Prep on Tuesday.

Wallace (0-2) travels to face Coeur d'Alene Charter on Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic School.

Mullan

PLUMMER - Junior Lillian Rhea and senior Talia Hendrickx each paced the Knights to a 25-9, 25-16, 25-8 win over the Tigers in the North Star League opener for both schools. Rhea finished with six digs and five service aces for the Knights (1-2). Hendrickx had four kills, had 16 assists, along with eight aces and six digs.

"I thought our girls played well," Lakeside co-coach Karyn Stockdale said. "They worked together and they hustled. It was a good first home match."

Te'a Lambert came up with five kills, five digs and one ace, while Corin Peone had five aces for Lakeside.

Lakeside plays at Mullan on Tuesday.

SPANGLE, Wash. - Katelyn Stegman had six aces and 12 assists for the Royals in a 25-16, 16-25, 25-22, 25-21 nonleague loss to Upper Columbia Academy.

Rayla Andrews had seven kills, eight digs and two blocks for North Idaho Christian (0-2), which travels to Pullman Christian on Sept. 15 to open Mountain Christian League play.
