LIGHTS: Bet you didn't know this

A friendly head’s up to Anne: I couldn’t agree more that “red light runners” are rampant around here. However, zero part of the problem is yellow traffic lights that are too short. A bigger part of this problem is lack of education. They don’t teach driver’s ed students, and it’s not on any test. The fact that in all 50 states a traffic light is programmed to stay yellow exactly one second for every 10 mph speed limit in that particular location. For example, if the speed limit is 35, the yellow light is on for 3.5 seconds; 50 mph, 5 seconds yellow; and so on.
This info should help yellow light gunners and red light runners.
