Dalene Marie Beck
Dec. 8, 1954 - Aug. 30, 2015
Dalene Beck of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away Aug. 30, 2015, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d'Alene.
Dalene was born in Wallace, Idaho, in 1954 to Dale and Marianne "Sis" Beck, the oldest of four children. She was joined by three more siblings when her mother married Wendell Badgley in 1973. Dalene was raised in Silverton, Idaho.
In 1973, Dalene graduated from Wallace High School. After graduation, Dalene moved to Coeur d'Alene. She attended North Idaho College before starting her career for the Idaho State Health and Welfare Department. She spent 30+ years there. She enjoyed her job and often talked about her wonderful co-workers. She left her job in 2003 after suffering a stroke.
Some of her favorite pastimes included socializing with family and friends, watching "Days of Our Lives," playing cribbage with her grand-dad, baking exceptional pie crust and swimming. She absolutely loved watching her nieces and nephews grow up. She enjoyed reminiscing about the olden days and would strike up a conversation with anyone.
Dalene had a phenomenal ability to remember important dates and would occasionally surprise someone out of the blue with a Happy Birthday phone call. Her greatest wish was to be a mother. Although this did not happen, she was grateful for the close relationship she had with the Stanley family. She loved all of the time she spent with Bill, Eileen, Dana, Brian, Tina and Katie. Those were some of her most valued memories.
Dalene was preceded in death by her father, Dale Beck; mother Marianne "Sis" Badgley and stepfather Wendell; brother-in-law Tom Stone; and nephews Jerrod Beck and Kevin Layland. Dalene is survived by her three siblings; brother Randy Beck of Post Falls; brother Jack (Julie) Beck of Post Falls and sister Tamara Stone of Bullhead City, Ariz.; three step-siblings, Rick Badgley of Coeur d'Alene, Jeanie (Tom) Layland of Dillingham, Alaska, and Angie (Mark) Spleiss of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; nieces and nephews Tony, Scott, Samantha, Ali, Tyler, Todd, Andra, Trent and Braden; and great-nephew Brody.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of North Idaho. There will be a celebration of Dalene's life at a later date. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Dalene's online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
