One Hundred Years of Adventure and Making People Smile

On Aug. 26, 2015, our Mother, Elsie Deane, passed away at her home in Post Falls, Idaho, with loved ones watching over her.

In her 100 years of life she was always caring for others, smiling and making those around her smile while enjoying the adventure of each day.

She was born Jan. 31, 1915, in Boston, Mass., to Earle Davie and Elsie Johnson. In 1935 she married Kenneth B. Howard and they had two children, Judith and Kenneth. In 1953, she married the love of her life, Martin A. Deane and they had two children, Michelle and Martine. Together, Elsie and Martin lived in Florida for many years and enjoyed an active and adventurous life, traveling the world, visiting Europe, India, China, Russia, Africa, Australia and other exotic destinations. They camped in the Australian outback, floated the canals of Europe and safaried in Africa. They sailed their CSY ketch throughout the blue waters of the Caribbean with friends and relatives. They loved cruising the ocean liners and on the river barges in Europe. Mom had an exciting, adventure filled life and left us wonderful examples of how to enjoy life to its fullest. Her comment just before she passed that "I am going on another adventure" typified her outlook.

She is survived by her children, Judith G. McGregor of Bellingham, Wash., Ken and Barb Howard of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Michelle A. Deane of Clearwater, Fla., Martine and Stephen Chambers of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a sister in California; and two brothers in Florida and Michigan.

Following mom's wishes, services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, in Seminole, Fla.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements. Please visit Elsie's online memorial at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com and sign her guest book.
