Cards drop exhibition to Whitworth

COEUR d'ALENE - Hamidou Kante scored in the 65th minute for the North Idaho College Cardinals, who lost to the Whitworth Pirates 5-1 in an exhibition men's soccer match Tuesday at Eisenwinter Field.

"It was definitely a good changeup from the weekend," NIC coach Ken Thompson said. "They made the Division III Round of 16 last year, and they could be better than they were last year. They're very big and an athletic group of guys. Their timing, touch on the ball and organization was great. They're a very well coached team."

NIC travels to face Peninsula on Saturday in Port Angeles, Wash.
