MICA: Don't be misled, voters

| October 31, 2015 9:10 PM

As a 20-year medical volunteer with MKI Fire, a person who has been intimately involved in District finances since the addition of the medical unit in 1995 and current sitting MKIFD Treasurer for the past 7 years, I feel that it is imperative that voters know the facts regarding the upcoming MKIFD Commissioners elections.

The group that started the recall petition against Chris Shelton in 2014 is behind candidates Hauser and Arhutick. They are using the same false, libelous and misleading tactics they used during the recall battle. The wording on that ballot was proven untrue, and even with the fabrications in that recall petition, Mr. Shelton was recalled by only +/- 40 votes.

Close family of the sitting fire commissioner has been actively involved in the campaign for Hauser and Arhutick. I question the ethics of such behavior, but as a voter, do you want three commissioners of the same mind to represent you?

Two letters in Thursday’s paper prompted me to write. Mike Anderson presents himself as Treasurer of MKIFPD. He has not held that position in more than 10 years, and I personally have never seen him at a meeting.

Nancy King and Gretchen Hauser were the kingpins in the recall petition against Shelton. It is unfortunate that they continue to damage their integrity.

The volunteers for MKI Fire stand firmly behind Chris Shelton and Jim Smith. The volunteers fear for the future of the department if Hauser and Arhutick are elected.

THIS IS THE ONLY BALLOT ISSUE FOR THE MKI AREA ON NOVEMBER 3. THIS ELECTION WILL LIKELY BE DECIDED BY FEWER THAN 50 VOTES. SHELTON AND SMITH.
