CDA 2030 action plan re-released
Community planning helps preserve parks and green spaces, maintain or improve the character of a neighborhood, reduce environmental impacts, and determine where structures are built.
Planning should move deliberately toward set goals but must also be nimble enough to adjust to changing environments and new opportunities.
In celebration of National Community Planning Month, CDA 2030 has released the second edition of the Implementation Plan designed to guide community members in making their shared vision for the future of greater Coeur d’Alene a reality.
The original Implementation Plan was based on community input collected from June 2013 to June 2014 through public forums, workshops, surveys, opinion polls and interviews. Changes to this living document reflect the community’s progress in implementing its vision, minor revisions, and the addition of two new actions. The two actions focus on safety prevention and public education as well as community preparedness.
These actions were submitted by the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department after a thorough evaluation of the original plan. Actions were then reviewed by the CDA 2030 Board of Directors to determine that each action was consistent with selection criteria: Community focus; consistency with the vision; appropriate fit under a relevant strategy; and inclusion of an identified lead partner and basic implementation information.
The CDA 2030 Vision and Implementation Plan represents our community’s preferred “destination” for the year 2030 and its “roadmap” to get there, respectively. The plan covers six focus areas, with strategies and corresponding actions to move the community in the direction of its vision over the next five years. Each action is “owned” by one or more lead Partner organizations that are committed to making the action happen, and supported by a number of additional potential support partner organizations.
The CDA 2030 Implementation Plan will help guide greater Coeur d’Alene’s decisions and actions over the next five years in pursuing the community’s long-term vision.
CDA 2030 continues to work to promote and support the community’s vision and provide opportunities for residents to be meaningfully involved with making choices that determine the future of their community.
