Marsha Ann Welsh Elliott, 67
Marsha Ann Welsh Elliott, 67, wife of Glenn Elliott of Coeur d’Alene, passed into God’s care on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015. Born in Weed, Calif., on Jan. 4, 1948, to John Martin Welsh Jr. and Marge Helen Cook Welsh Souza, she grew up in Vallejo, graduating from Vallejo High School in 1966.
She enjoyed a lifelong passion for cooking, beginning with her first job at Mr. Ed’s, a diner in Vallejo, where she met her future husband, a Vallejo police officer. A conversation about French toast led to a relationship of enduring love, mutual respect and companionship that lasted more than 47 years. The couple had two children, Yvonne Lee Elliott of Newport, Wash., and Sheri Mae Elliott of Rathdrum, Idaho.
In 1972, they moved to Vacaville, where Marsha managed restaurants and worked as a caterer in the Napa Valley area. The family moved to Rathdrum in 1992, where Marsha began working for Tesh, Inc. in Coeur d’Alene. After about five years there, she semi-retired and shifted her energy to household and family. Hers was the holiday table where there was always room for one more and enough food for leftovers to go.
In 2014, she worked as a receptionist for St. Vincent de Paul in Coeur d’Alene, which she enjoyed immensely. She was blessed by two grand-godsons, Indiana and Holden Manning, now of Spokane. Following Indiana’s birth, she spent the next several years providing child care and being their “Mimi.”
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Glenn; her two daughters, Yvonne and Sheri; a daughter-in-law, Anne McLaughlin of Newport and two brothers, Donald and Sue Welsh of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Patrick and Rhonda Welsh of Manteca, Calif.
Marsha was a devoted Christian and member of the Church of Christ at Coeur d’Alene. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at Marsha’s home. Bell Tower Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
