Virginia Arland Penman, 86

Virginia Arland (Nelson) Penman, 86, passed away peacefully on Oct. 24, 2015. Virginia was born Oct. 3, 1929, in Rathdrum, Idaho, to Bernard and Constance L. Nelson.

Virginia attended nursing school from 1947 to 1950 in Portland, Ore. She married Richard J. Penman on Sept. 2, 1950.

Her annual vacation included going up on the St. Joe River and hunting elk with her family. She enjoyed watching the Mariners, was an avid Gonzaga Bulldogs men’s basketball fan and treasured spending time with her two grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Berdene Brunko of Twin Lakes, Idaho; sons Steve of Wasillla, Alaska, and Jeff (Christy) of Wenatchee, Wash.; grandson Bryce Brunko of Twin Lakes; granddaughter Lauren (Bryan) Petersen of Coeur d’Alene; sister Arlene Lindell of Moses Lake, Wash.; and numerous other relatives. She is preceded in death by her mother and father; husband Richard (Dick) James; son Richard (Rick) James Jr. and brother-in-law Sidney J. Penman.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls, Idaho, with graveside services at Pine Grove Cemetery in Rathdrum. All are welcome to attend.
