Janet S. Low, 64
Janet Sue (Toney) Low, 64 years old, of Hayden, Idaho died October 15, 2015 in Cody, Wyoming at the Spirit Mountain Hospice House due to Lymphoma.
Janet was born on January 1, 1951 in Culver City, California to Ray and Rosa Toney. She grew up in Hawthorne and Inglewood, California with her beloved sister Shelia. She graduated from Centinela Valley Union High School. Janet married her high school sweetheart, Gregory L. Low, on June 1, 1968. Greg and Janet had two children, Scott and Bradley. Janet moved with her family to Lancaster, California where Greg worked as a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff. She was widowed on February 26, 1978 when Greg was killed in the line of duty.
The highlight of her career was working with X-15 Test Pilot and California State Senator William John "Pete" Knight and Assembly Member Phillip D Wyman for thirteen years. Janet received several recognitions for her service including a State of California Senate Member Resolution. Janet was also very active in her local community having served on the Citizens Advisory Committee of Los Angeles County State Prisons, as Vice President of the Antelope Valley Homeowners Association, Palmdale Republican Women and was active with the Antelope Valley Public Relations Officials.
Janet moved to Idaho ten years ago to be closer to her sister and brother-in-law. While in Hayden she took up new challenges including developing a love for Bridge. During this time she continued to foster new friendships with her neighbors and Bridge partners. Janet loved to travel and read. As a voracious reader, Janet continually found new subjects to research including politics and current events. During her short life, she was able to travel throughout the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. Janet also found time to travel to Europe and Africa, the Caribbean and Mexico, usually in the company of her good friends and family.
Janet is preceded in death by her beloved husband Gregory L. Low and parents Ray and Rosa Toney.
Janet is survived by her sister, Sheila Wall (James “Doug” Wall) of Hayden, Idaho; son, Scott G. Low (Anne Bowline) of Casper, Wyoming; son, Bradley L. Low (Karista Low) and Grandchildren Bridger, Galen, Hudson, and Davney of Cody, Wyoming
Janet requested cremation and to have her ashes spread in the Pacific Ocean that she loved playing in during her youth. A private memorial in Hayden, Idaho with friends and family will be held on November 5, 2015.
