William A. Hamby, 75 Jan. 30, 1940 - Oct. 18, 2015
He was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Albert and Mary Margaret Hamby.
Bill entered a world quite different than the one we live in now. Hard work and a desire to get ahead were ingrained into his personality from an early age. That hard work enabled him to start several successful businesses over the years. He owned Lake City Garage Doors, a concrete finishing business and CDA Mini Storage. Bill also built houses in local neighborhoods around the area.
He went to local grade schools and Coeur d’Alene High School. He made many friends over the years. Some of those high school buddies along with a lifetime of others continued to gather at Bill’s shop or house. Plans for work and play were ironed out, stories were told, and challenges were given. Bill’s place was always a hub for his friends and family.
In 1961, he married Patricia Kuhn and they had two children, Teri Valois and Bill Hamby. His children gave him six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His family was a source of great joy to him. His love of hunting and fishing was passed down to his family. Many great times were enjoyed on camping trips, riding motorcycles, cooking great meals and watching his family grow.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Margaret Hamby; a sister, Mary Jean Pope and a grandson, Joshua Valois.
Bill leaves behind Patricia Hamby, Teri Valois (Mike), William P. Hamby; grandchildren Danielle Partyka, Jason Valois, Makayla Adams, Bryson Hamby and Garrett Hamby; sisters Katherine Hanna and Eileen Hand; nieces Kim Kling and Kathy Whitney, Dana Lubag, Julia Husby and Jaime Hand; nephew Time Haakenson.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at the Hayden Eagles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be given to Hospice House. Please sign and view William’s guest registry online at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
