PREP FOOTBALL: Lakeland makes playoffs at 1-8

| October 24, 2015 10:00 PM

RATHDRUM — With Brendon Colee’s 32-yard field goal, the previously winless Lakeland Hawks football team earned that all-important first win.

And a little more exciting, a home playoff game next weekend at Corbit Field.

Lakeland (1-8, 1-1 4A Inland Empire League) had two interceptions to hold off the Moscow Bears (1-8, 0-2) 17-14 in the regular season finale for both schools at Corbit Field on Friday night.

“It was an awesome game,” Lakeland assistant coach Ryan Scaggs said. “It was a heck of an ending to the season. The kids worked their tails off and it was great to get the victory.”

Ryan Pote had a 60-yard interception return to give Lakeland the lead in the second quarter.

“Our defense played huge tonight,” Scaggs said.
