PFLAG hosting chili cookoff Saturday

| October 23, 2015 9:00 PM

COEUR d'Alene — PFLAG Coeur d'Alene is hosting its inaugural chili cookoff from 3-5 p.m. Saturday in the parish hall at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.

The event will serve as a fundraiser for PFLAG (formerly Parents, Friends and Family of Lesbians And Gays) to support its mission of support, education and advocacy efforts for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. It will also serve as a "friend raiser," where people can gather in a social setting and make new friends.

"We are so excited to have our first chili cook off featuring friends of PFLAG Coeur d'Alene," PFLAG chair Juli Stratton said in a press release. "People realize the importance of building community through fun and positive events. We are pleased to be able to offer another 'friend raiser' for people to come together, get to know each other and have a fun, safe time."

A suggested donation of $5 will give cookoff attendees access to taste and vote on the different chili recipes. Awards will be given out for tastiest chili and for best decorations.

St. Luke's Episcopal Church Parish Hall is located at 501 E. Wallace in Coeur d'Alene.
