Steven P. 'Stub' Brunko, 59

Steven P. “Stub” Brunko, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015. Stub was born on Feb. 7, 1956, in Rugby, N.D., to his parents, Rev. James and Arvis Brunko.

Growing up in the church, he moved with his family from North Dakota to Minnesota, Montana and finally to Rathdrum, Idaho, his sophomore year of high school. He has lived in Twin Lakes, Idaho, since marrying his wife, Berdene, on Sept. 1, 1984.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Berdene; his son, Bryce, and his daughter, Lauren Petersen (Bryan). He is also survived by his four brothers, James Jr. (Barb), Larry (Kim), Bryan (Debbie) and Rick (Rena); four sisters, Barbara Almquist (Dan), Kathy Harrington (Ron), Ruth Dille and Debbie Fisher (Dave); and two brothers-in-law Steve Penman and Jeff Penman (Christy). He is preceded in death by his parents.

Stub enjoyed spending time elk hunting with his family on the St. Joe, fishing on Twin Lakes and watching football with the guys on Sundays. He has made many friends over the years, most of them long lasting and was the first to offer help to anyone who needed it. No matter where he was, who he was with or what he was doing, he was always the life of the party. “Party on Dad!” We love you and will miss you forever!

Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at the Rathdrum Bible Church, 15127 Stevens St., Rathdrum. Potluck to follow.
