PREP VOLLEYBALL: Mallet sends Tigers into District 1 title match
SPIRIT LAKE — Jacqueline Mallet had 10 kills and 10 digs to lead the top-seeded Timberlake Tigers past the fourth-seeded Priest River Spartans 25-4, 20-25, 25-21, 25-19 in the opening round of the 3A District 1 tournament on Tuesday.
Kenzie Dean had six kills, five digs and three aces, Matraca Rocheleau 31 assists and five aces and Courtney Eaton four aces for Timberlake (21-9), which faces third seed Kellogg (5-8) in tonight’s championship match at 7.
Olivia Witter had 14 assists, Makea Brennan four kills and five aces, Catherine Gamma 25 digs and Emily Clark five blocks for Priest River (2-10).
Earlier, Kellogg beat second-seeded Bonners Ferry in four sets to advance to tonight’s championship match.
Bonners Ferry will face Priest River in a loser-out match tonight at 5:30.

MOSCOW — The second-seeded Bears (7-11) beat the third-seeded Hawks in five sets to advance from a 4A Region 1 loser-out match at Bear Den.
Lakeland finishes 7-17.
Moscow travels to Sandpoint on Thursday for a best-of-3 series regional final on Thursday at 4 p.m.

HAYDEN — Katelyn Stegman had 22 assists and 12 aces to lead the Royals past the Lions 25-14, 27-25, 23-25, 25-17 in a Mountain Christian League match.
Rayla Andrews had seven kills and eight digs and Grace Gipson and Ilysa Emerson had seven kills each for North Idaho Christian (5-11, 4-4 MCL), which faces Kootenai Thunder next Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic School in Coeur d’Alene.
