GUNS: It's all about the people

| October 18, 2015 9:00 PM

Progressives make the analogy that guns, specifically semi-automatics, cause homicides and suicides. According to Hillary Clinton, the Supreme Court was wrong in ruling that citizens have a right to firearms for self-defense. According to Clinton, only governments and their representatives have that right. Even pro-gun Bernie Sanders is now on the bandwagon for banning all semi-auto rifles. Clinton says if elected she will take executive action to eliminate the lawsuit protections for the firearm industry and allow victims of violence to sue the manufacturers into oblivion.

The progressive/socialists/liberal ideology toward guns got me to thinking how we could project this reasoning toward other areas of death in our society. Automobiles immediately come to mind. Traffic deaths far exceed gun deaths so we should sue the car manufactures and dealers into oblivion, which would be easy, as they have no Constitutional protection. Along with automobiles, texting and talking on mobile phones cause accidents and deaths so we should sue those manufactures and retailers into oblivion. Are you starting to get the idea that the blame game has no limits when you refuse to hold people personally accountable?

What about the accidents and deaths caused by drunk drivers? If we accept as valid the progressive argument that guns cause crime and law-abiding gun owners should be disarmed for community safety, then we certainly can apply this to other areas. It would appear obvious that vehicles cause drunk driving. If there were no cars, trains or planes there would be no drunken operators. Lets pass laws prohibiting cars, trains, planes, alcohol, guns, knives, rocks, well you get the idea, but until then, we’ll sue the manufactures and retailers into oblivion. This cause and effect relationship will only make sense to a true progressive liberal.
